VideoBlocks for Education is excited to launch our Digital Media Action Grant program. VideoBlocks Digital Media Action Grant program is designed to inspire further research into the impact that digital media has in developing 21st century communication skills, ensuring the ethical use of digital content and in engaging learners.

The theme for this year’s program is “Improving Learning Using Creative Digital Media.” VideoBlocks will be awarding two (2) grants of $10,000 to higher education researchers to study the influence of VideoBlocks digital creative content on an array of education topics. The research findings from program grantees will create best practices for incorporating creative digital content across the campus and uncover innovative new use cases for engaged and active learning.

To be successful, applications should:

  • Show a significant and original contribution to the field of digital creative media using VideoBlocks stock video, production audio, AE templates, and/or motion background content.
  • Build upon previous research into the pedagogical impact of digital media;
  • Consider the effects and usage cases of VideoBlocks creative digital media across entire educational institutions;
  • If practical, show an understanding of how digital creative media fits within a framework of 21st century communication skills
  • Be currently employed at a VideoBlocks higher-education institutional client (consumer or individual/legacy EDU subscriptions are not eligible). Learn how to become a VideoBlocks institutional client here.

Be specific about what you want to achieve.

Your proposal should include a clear and well-defined problem statement. Clearly state what you want to achieve and how you will do so.

State how the funding will be used and why your proposal should be chosen.

Describe the potential outcome of your research or development, including what specific areas require funding and how the funding will be applied.

Explain how you will carry out the research or development.

In addition to clearly identifying the problem you plan to investigate, it will be beneficial to describe how you intend to carry out the research or development. In doing so. please identify the risks you may encounter and how you mitigate them and the time frame of when the research or development will be conducted.


Applications must be received in the form of Microsoft Word documents by November 15, 2015. Send completed applications to Bob McDonald at bob@videoblocks.com. Winners will be determined and notified no later than December 15, 2015 and listed on the VideoBlocks for Education website.

The grant review panel will consist of digital media experts, academics, and VideoBlocks management team.

Copyright and Use of Applications

Copyright in material submitted with any application shall be subject to the policies of the institutional applicant. Applicants must ensure that any intellectual property owned by others and used in their submissions is approved for use by the owner of the copyright and appropriately attributed. The applicant agrees to grant the VideoBlocks with a non-revocable, non-transferable, unlimited rights to display, use, modify, publish, transmit, and print submitted materials. The application and materials submitted with the application shall be considered the property of the VideoBlocks upon submission, with no obligation to return any materials to applicants.


Registration requires that you supply your name, email address, and home/work address. The information you submit will be used to confirm your eligibility, evaluate your application, and administer the awards. Once registered, applicants may receive periodic communications relating to important deadlines and information.

Information collected will not be sold, rented or provided to any third parties for commercial or marketing purposes. By submitting an application, all applicants recognize that they will be required to provide an abstract of their application that will be made public.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

VideoBlocks reserves the right to modify this policy at any time without prior notification to users and registrants of the site. A notice will be posted on the website should significant policy changes take effect.


VideoBlocks and its website(s) are not liable for any claim, loss or injury based on errors, omissions, interruptions or other inaccuracies either in this site, or for any claim, loss or injury that results from your use of this site.

No liability for damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall VideoBlocks be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, special, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages for personal injury, loss of profits, interruption, loss of information, or any other pecuniary loss) arising out of participating in the VideoBlocks Digital Media Action Grant, even if VideoBlocks has been advised of the possibility of such damages, or due to errors, omissions, interrupts, or other inaccuracies either on this site, or from participant’s use of this site.


By participating in the VideoBlocks Digital Media Action Grant and submitting a proposal, a participant and/or its affiliated organization agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Indemnified Parties (as defined herein) from any claims, expenses, judgments, damages, attorneys’ fees, costs of defense, or suits (collectively, “Claims”) brought by any third-party against any of the Indemnified Parties arising from or related in any way to the participant’s or any affiliated organization’s or person’s participation in the Digital Media Action Grant program, including but not limited to any submission or application in connection therewith. This indemnification would include but not be limited to any Claims by a third party based upon allegations that the Participant or affiliated organization or person violated any intellectual property or patent rights, misappropriated information or ideas, breached agreements with such third-parties.
